Even Impossible says ‘I m next to Possible….’

Filed under: business — poojab @ 10:50 pm

How many times do we convince ourselves not to follow our dreams, our passion our thoughts just because we think they are impossible to achieve. But in reality you can achieve all you set out to and more only if you can

  1. Believe in yourself and your vision
  2. Be persistent
  3. Be disciplined

Now, your goal can be anything from being world class chef, swimmer or an entrepreneur. It doesn’t matter all achieving people have the above qualities and they keep perfecting it till it becomes a routine. Take examples from around Lance Armstrong, fought cancer to become such great cyclist champion, who would have said America would have a black president but Barrack Obama proved them all wrong with his ‘Yes, you can ‘ attitude. Remember, persistence always pays off, look at the profiles of great entrepreneurs from around you they did not achieve success from day one but they kept trying and trying. All entrepreneurs will tell you how they had failures to start with but they took these failures as experiences on which to build their success.

I am also hoping to achieve success in my start-up and it is not easy at times but if I keep going then I am sure I will gain a lot from it and I will be much better off than not trying from the fear of losing .

Focus, Focus and some more Focus…

Filed under: business — poojab @ 4:21 pm

Imagine a scene, weather is cold and grey, you are dead tired but you have to prepare an important document for a meeting in which your direct boss, director are going to be present. Most of us will just go get a hot cup of tea or coffee and get down to work instead of just procrastinating it and saying I will do it a bit later….

But when you are working for yourself in a start-up there are so many times when other things just seem so much more important than the job you need to do. With no –one to report to or hold you accountable at times it just becomes easier to procrastinate the jobs that you would rather not do. Detailing the screen shots of the product you are building, documenting your requirements, creating sales and marketing plan, the all time favourite doing your accounts, cash-flow forecasts but to be successful all these and many more have to be done at the right time . Whenever I feel like not doing something I just try to focus myself back into it by remembering what the end result will be; my reason for starting on my own ‘ me working for myself, in the way I want to, treated and treating people in the way I want to and of course the personal satisfaction’ . Make sure you have your own motivational one liner written on which you can focus on.

Then I just do the following

  1. List in steps I need to do to complete the task
  2. Give myself 20mintutes timer to get started and focus on the task
  3. Most of the time once the initial 20minutes are cleared I can usually concentrate longer on that task
  4. If not I just schedule further 20minute for another time.

So how do you tackle the beast of procrastination and focus on things?
